Week 56 - Senior/Trainer

Hello friends and family

This week was quite the adventure.

On Monday while working I stepped on a giant cow turd and my shoes have giant holes on the bottom of them soooooooooooooo I burned the socks later that night!
I had no companion this week so I got to work in Bollinao with Elder Russel who just sent home his companion in the mission and is about to train. Their area is at the tip of Pangasinan and has a way cool island.
This is where they baptize because they have no font.
The closest I'll have to surfing for the next year.
This is the nose of a shark that some Investigators gave me and it's so sharp it cut my hand and can easily sand wood.
Also good news!!!! For the first time in my whole mission I am with someone who is younger than me in the mission. He is actually brand new which means I am in charge of training him and keeping him obedient and stuff. I am in the same area in Lingayen in a barangay called Baay. Elder Davad is from anti polo and I laugh and say that he's not allowed to wear polo shirts. It's like right by manila. He's kind of an awkward shy guy so I guess it's good I am training him because I have no problem with that. He's into like cars and stuff and I know nothing about cars but he's awesome kind and humble so no problems at all. He is also good at English.
Over all a way tiring, but awesome week here in the Philippines.

Love,
Elder Terry

Week 55

Hello friends and family

It was a busy week with lots of traveling and very little sleep, but these are just a little of our adventures we had.

Did we go swimming....maybe
We found a new investigator this week whose eyes are 2 different colors.
While we were taking a picture this bird named Tweetie literally came to us and followed us home. Pets are Bawal?
Binyag dudes
We had the chance to baptize the members of the Sanchez family. There is Jel, Careel, and Ian, so that was pretty awesome.
They are way smart and were very excited to be baptized. I honestly love doin the mission stuff.
Elder Leones is finally home after 2 years and is heading back to Vigan and now I have no companion till Thursday. So sad
The people love my white feet
Good week

Week 54

Hello Friends and family

I am honored to be able to write you once more

A lot happened the past couple of weeks to i'll try to cover it all with pictures.

This is Daryl our investigator and one day when we went to teach him he said he didn't have time to read the Book Of Mormon yet so he read right then and there during the lesson for like 10 mins. hahaha. We just met him and he went to church for his first time on Sunday.
As you know from my last emails my companion Elder Leones is going home soon and this was him giving his farewell talk at his last Zone Conference.
This week we also had exchanges with Elder Tobler and Elder Rosaldo in my district and they are both both quite amazing and are way successful.
This week was by far the hottest week in my whole mission reaching 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 F). After teaching to our Investigator, Grace, Elder Leones crashed for 5 mins.
Our area is very large, but way purty
We also had a CSP this week at our investigators house the, Ignacio Family, and our whole district and some friends came along to help.
We just dug holes and carried bags of dirt to their house back and fourth for like 2 hours to fill up their house so it won't flood.
It was waaaaaay hot and you can see the sweat on my shirt. I am Masipag
On the way home we just hopped on the back of some random guys truck and he gave us a free ride home. I love the Philippines.
And just earlier today Elder Leones taught his last workshop on his last P Day and we are going to celebrate with Shaky's Pizza later today.

That is all for this week

Love you all

Elder Terry

Week 53

This week was quite spectacular of having the opportunity to listen to general conference. For those who don't know general conference is were all the leaders of the church such as apostles, bishops, prophets, and etc. come together in Utah Land and speak to us and give revelations and new ideas to help continue to help the church and members prosper and progress.

It was amazing to listen and feel the power of President Russel M. Nelson speak to us and give such great new ways to run the church such as combined priesthood and Ministering and the announcement of new temples. My favorite part of general conference was in Priesthood session when Prophet Nelson told the Deacons to rise, then the teachers, then priests, Elders, High priests, the 70, the apostles and we all joined together to sing the Hymn RISE UP OH MEN OF GOD. I just stood back and took it in and felt the power of the priesthood and spirit so strong.

General Conference has never been looked so forward to in my whole life till I came here on a mission and I ACTUALLY took notes and stuff to remember and apply what I learned for the next 6 months.

I didn't take a single picture all week hahaha sorry
I forgot myself in the work.

I ate at Mang Inisal and meat grill place with unlimited rice for my 1 year and I also killed a chicken.

Week 52

It is still a great opportunity to hear from you all and write you again.

I wish I could write more, but the lack of time does really make it difficult for me to write down all my thoughts and events that happened. Just know that I of course love and miss you all and I am very very very happy and my testimony is shining bright and beaming through every hardship we face.

I am very happy to be serving here in the Philippines to be able to meet so many amazing people and brings them a message of peace and goodwill. It was definitely a call from God for me to come here and I actually have no complaints about transfers because my recent converts are in good hands and I can apply everything I learned in my last area into this one.

If you don't know transfers are when leaders call you and say pack your bags you're leaving your area and you get 12 hours to pack, sleep, and not say goodbye. As you come into a new area it's basically just a refresh or restart of everything and the only thing that really changed was yourself.

Easter here is a freakin mad house. Theres no work and everyone goes out and drinks for Jesus and some people even crucify themselves. People walk thousands of miles to go to a certain church of their desire. This holiday is called Mahal na Araw which is basically holy week. There were a tons of foreigners and I got to speak English to some of them, so it was an interesting week. We taught tons of families which is hard to come by.

MARK was Baptized
It was hot BTW
Even at night the Elders will find you and they will SAVE you
